The Problem

The Dalla Lana School of Public Health needed a branded content video documenting the Black Joy Art Initiative, an exhibition created by Mercedes Sobers. The project was designed to shift the narrative around Black mental health from deficit and disparity toward resilience, joy, strength, and holistic wellness.

The Strategic Challenge

Academic and research-based work can become inaccessible when communicated only through reports, presentations, or institutional language. The challenge was to translate a scholarly and community-based initiative into a video that felt emotionally resonant, educational, and useful beyond the exhibition itself.


The Solution

BIGSIX MEDIA produced a branded content video that captured the exhibition, amplified participant voices, documented the space, and preserved the initiative as a visual artifact for future education, engagement, and advocacy.

The Deliverables

Main branded content video, exhibition documentation, participant/community reflections, educational video asset, short-form optimized final cut, and public-health storytelling content.

The Outcome

The video helped extend the life of the exhibition beyond the physical event. According to the portfolio, it was received with enthusiasm by academic audiences, community stakeholders, and participants, while contributing to a broader reframing of Black mental health around dignity, resilience, and collective care.
